A Face That Launched A Thousand Loaves
Yesterday was a wondrous day of free food for me. At McDonald’s in the morning (where I stop too often for breakfast) one of the drive-thru guys, Micasio, whom I always smile at, put an extra breakfast burrito and hashbrown in my bag. (This was wonderful for when I got hungry later.) Then after work […]

Ides and Illegal Immigrants
Today is the ides of March. Beware.
Now on to illegal immigrants. I was listening to NPR on the way to work, and there was a segment about illegal immigrants. I kept thinking about what the Lord said in the Old Testament about the Israelites helping aliens, because they themselves used to be aliens in Egypt. […]

Many Shiny Things
I first noticed the beginning of an insurgency in May of 1999. I thought that perhaps it was just a single incident, but it was a sleeper cell–the first of a large network that would make itself known over the subsequent years. 2. You can twist almost anything to say what you want it to […]

I went home this weekend. I had rehearsal for the comedy show at the church in which I grew up, and I also got to hang out at home. I mentioned in a previous post (either on this site or on my old Xanga site) that my goldfish Pucker lives at my Mom and Dad’s […]
Eye of the Tiger…er…Housecat
I enjoy cats. (However, this enjoyment does not lead me to purchase cardigans with cat appliques.) They are cute, they don’t smell bad, and having a cat asleep on your lap is one of the best moments in life.
But cats enjoy toying with us humans. They secretly enjoy the confused, worried look on our faces when […]

A Little Louder Now
Here is an audio file of the song I posted below. I also came up with the tune, and Jon, the uber talented music director and pianist tweeked it and added the interlude. This is a rough recording of one of our practices. It’s much better now, but you’ll get the point. I would suggest […]
