Playtah’s News Review

Posted September 28th, 2007 by Playtah

A few of the main top stories:
Bush has promised to veto a health insurance bill that would benefit poor children. In a related story, this week he also proposed a plan to wean the U.S. off foreign oil with a new fuel made from sick poor children.
Florida farmers expressed concern after finding out that […]

Imus Rant for a Moment

Posted April 10th, 2007 by Playtah

If you’ve been watching the news lately, you know that Don Imus is taking heat for referring to the Rutgers women’s basketball team as “nappy-headed hos”. Many people, including Al Sharpton, are calling for his firing. Please allow me a two-part rant.
Part 1: Don Imus
Seriously, unless a person has been under a rock […]

The Pursuit of Honeyness

Posted April 4th, 2007 by Playtah

By Wendy Playter
Giles Walter Baron was a well-to-do man. He and his wife Lillian lived in an affluent neighborhood, in a large mansion on the edge of a forest. Although his young life had been exciting (due largely to his many vices), his present life was consumed by what seemed a very simple vice: honey.
Giles […]

The State of the Union

Posted January 24th, 2007 by Playtah

I watched the State of the Union address last night. It was interesting to watch the people there. Nancy Pelosi looked cautious. Vice President Cheney looked like he wanted to crush puppies and eat hoagies. Condi Rice looked like she wasn’t getting enough fiber in her diet. Hillary Clinton’s eyes dug shallow […]

Be My Guest

Posted January 22nd, 2007 by Playtah

Today I visited Hillary Clinton’s website.  In the blog section of the site, readers have the opportunity to submit a post and be the first guest post featured on the blog.  I figured I’d give it a shot.  I don’t know when they’ll choose the winner, but below is the post I submitted.

Change is in […]

Sources Say…Part II

Posted January 15th, 2007 by Playtah

I was hoping for more responses to the quote. Oh well.
The pastor of my church had this (or a similar quote by the same person) up on the screen one Sunday, and asked if we thought it was true. Pretty much everyone said yes. (Not that we hate America, but we agreed […]

Sources Say…Part I

Posted January 12th, 2007 by Playtah

Every country has its good and bad qualities.  Below is a quote from a foreigner specifically dealing with some bad qualities of America.  What do you think about his observations of America? Are they right? Wrong?
“You are a nation that permits the production, trading and usage of intoxicants. You also permit drugs, and […]

Let’s Not Let This Happen

Posted January 11th, 2007 by Playtah

As you probably saw last night, President Bush apparently thinks he knows more than most of the House and Senate, generals, world leaders, a commission set up to evaluate the war, and millions of American people. Our only hope now is that the Senate and House will reject this disasterous move and vote against […]

Tomorrow

Posted January 9th, 2007 by Playtah

Well, President Bush is going to disclose his plan for Iraq tomorrow. I see it going one of three ways:
1. He listens to Congress and the American people and announces that we will have a definite exit strategy. He and Cheney then resign, allowing Nancy Pelosi and Congress to set about the work […]

A Nice Neutral Feeling

Posted November 8th, 2006 by Playtah

A fun way to smash hopes after voting is to call a friend of the opposite political party and remind them that your vote cancelled theirs out.  It’s especially fun if they waited in line for 4 hours.
Just don’t say that to someone you can’t outrun, as tensions run high with politics.
