Raincheck Days and Wednesdays Always Get Me Down
My friend “L” is one of the most down-to-earth, level-headed, straight-forward people I know. She is very knowledgable about a wide range of subjects, and anything she doesn’t know, she researches studiously. When she makes choices - whether it be about food, shopping, life decisions, etc. - they are always well-informed and well-researched.
You’d think a […]

Fun Dilbert Widget!
I’ve added a Dilbert comic viewer to my site (thanks for the widget, Scott Adams!)- if you scroll down the page on the right-hand side, you’ll see it. Dilbert is one of my all-time favorite comics, and perhaps it will become yours, too! Scott Adams is the author of Dilbert, and also has a blog […]

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Ah, yes, Cinco de Mayo. The day when Americans celebrate some sort of event that probably happened someplace south of Texas, and had something to do with mayonnaise. Many people will use this holiday to get ridiculously drunk and eat too much Taco Bell. It’s kind of like a spicy St. Patrick’s day.
Me? I think […]

Welcome Back, Kotter! Er, Playtah!
Yes, I have been absent for way too many days. Weeks. Ok, almost a freaking month. But I’m back.
Shortly after the new year, I started a job at Foremost Insurance. I worked there right out of college, and now I’m back! I will be an insurance sales agent, and have thus spent the last week […]

Since my last post, life has improved a bit. Thank you to all who left me messages of encouragement. I’ve got a job interview today for a position at Foremost Insurance, so we’ll see how that goes.
Christmas went really well. Thanks to my family and friends (and a very kind […]

The Basics
Me:
- Working my arse off making less than I was getting in unemployment
- Not looking forward to figuring out what to do for Christmas presents
- Not looking forward to asking my parents for more money for bills
- A bit depressed at times, and more self-defeating/-destructive than I should be
- Waiting to hear from Foremost, where […]

Update
Thank you all so much for your well-wishes. I just finished my first night solo, and everything went well. Nobody died, and the tips were good.
I don’t know if I’m going to be getting enough hours at the restaurant to actually be able to make it on that money alone, but we’ll see. It sucks not […]

I Have A JOB!
Yes! Last week I was offered a job as a server at a very high-end Grand Rapids restaurant called Noto’s. They actually serve a brand of cognac that is $150 per glass. They have over 600 wines available, with several wines in the $500-$750 per bottle range. Hurray for tips!
The Noto […]

Oh Deer, I’m A Wand-erer
In the fall and winter, I frequently see deer behind my apartment building. It’s kind of amazing, since I live all of 60 seconds from a mall, but the bit of rural-ness near me is a haven for all kinds of fun animals. Today, in contrast to their dusky or nighttime visits, two […]
