I am just a little more cynical. I too think that America has come a long way in electing a black man. I only wish that people had been a little more discriminating and saw that what we were electing was a very leftwing individual. I had said that I didn't think America would ever elect a black candidate or even a woman candidate. But I hope to some day be able to vote for a candidate who is black and/or a candidate who is a woman. Jesse Jackson ran as a black candidate. Being black was central to his candidacy. Obama, to his credit, did not run as a black candidate and that enabled him to win despite occasionally playing the race card. Just for effect, you know. I see hope here. He reminded me that, God was not and will never be surprised. I have Prayed for Pres. Elect Obama.
