Spring Cha-ching
Spring has sprung, and once again I am faced with an annual inner battle. I have a decision to make - a choice fraught* with the constant struggle of delayed gratification versus immediate satisfaction.
The decision I’m speaking of, of course, is that of whether or not to put a dollar in my winter coat pocket. That way, when I put it away for the summer, let it sit through the fall and finally pull it out again in the winter, yay! I found a dollar I forgot I had!
Oh, come on. You’ve thought of doing it before. Really, isn’t it a great feeling to reach in your pocket and feel paper, and then pull the paper out and realize that it’s legal tender for all debts, public and private? That little instant of joy can add so much to a day**.
Actually, while writing this post, I’ve realized that I’m very hungry, and I’ve just decided that I’m going to use my money and buy something for dinner. That was a lot easier than most years***. I should make decisions on an empty stomach more often.****

*I’m giving myself a bonus point for using the word “fraught”. I will save these bonus points and redeem them for valuable cash and prizes.
**Unless you’ve just found out you have cancer.
***Like the one year I was deciding whether or not to leave a silver dollar in my coat pocket, so I flipped the silver dollar to help make the decision, and it fell under the refrigerator. That year, I was disappointed when I put on my winter coat for the first time. But I had a great time the following year, when I cleaned under the fridge.
****Except for the time I was hungry and decided to catch and eat a boar. The tusk marks have faded, but the emotional scars will never fully heal.

Hey, chick…I was thinking about you all day yesterday, thinking about Grandma celebrating her birthday in Heaven….
I miss you.

The new look to the blog is fabulous.
I’m always finding spare change in old coats.
If you leave the dollar in pennies, you’ll be sure to notice, once winter comes.
