Midnight at the Potter Oasis
Well, tonight (OK, techically tomorrow at 12:01am), the last Harry Potter book will be available for purchase. As I have spent the past month reading the 6 books that are out, I am anxiously awaiting the release of this last book. I plan to be in line tonight to get my grubby little hands on a copy, and then stay awake reading all 70o+ pages.
I realize that there will be a line, perhaps quite a line, and I am not unprepared for this possiblity. Inspired by one of Scott Adam’s brilliant Dilbert comics, I plan to bring with me several hundred fake babies. I’ll run through the line throwing these fake babies in the air, passing people quickly as they look up to try and catch the falling infants. I figure I can make it to the front of the line in under 60 seconds. And, as I have learned in my many years of customer service experience, not all people have souls, so not all people care about babies in peril. In these cases, I plan to kick, bite, and throw elbows to get to the front. Fisticuffs are also not ruled out. I realize there will be many young kids in line, and you may be appalled that I would elbow a grade-schooler. I don’t care how fragile you think kids are: if they’re under 18, they generally clot fast. So don’t worry. Maybe I’ll get lucky and give some kid a lightning-shaped scar.

I love Harry Potter. I am heading up to TC tonight for the Harry Potter Festival on Front street. I love the story line, the movies, and the whole Potter culture.
I have the my book comming directly to my door on Saturday so I don’t have to wait in line. But I will be part of the maddness. I can’t wait.
