Vacation Photos
I am back in Michigan. Our vacation went fine; other than a cancellation of a flight and subsequent re-routing, there were no travel problems.
But now, the promised pictures. This vacation was the first time I got to meet my Aunt Lily and baby cousin Anna. My Uncle Gary got married in Georgia (the country, not the state) so we didn’t know Lily, and their baby is now just seven months old, so we’d not met her before, either.
This is a picture of Gary, Lily, and Anna:

Anna is a little cutie, as you can clearly see in these two photos:

Here’s Anna with Aunt Wendy. Or Aunt Playtah, for my Internet friends.

My Uncle Paul has a cabin up on Squa Pan Lake, about 30 minutes from Presque Isle, ME. The next several photos were taken there. Here’s Dad with Uncle Gary’s dog, Tina:

Tina is a Black Russian Terrier, and is part Airddale, part Rottweiler. They are apparently not that common, and she was the champion at a dog show because she was the only one of her breed. Not a clean win, but a win nonetheless. Take that trophy and run.
Here is my younger sister Jill and I:

Here’s Jill and Dad:

Here is Anna and my Mom:

And here’s a picture of myself that Dad took. It’s nice to find a picture of yourself that you actually like.

I’m holding my fake four-leaf clover, the amalgam of a three-leaf and a one-leaf clover. Sometimes you have to make your own luck. Or steal people’s wallets while they sleep. I’m just saying.
This is a close-up of our campfire:

Of course, I plan to concoct a dazzling story of a narrow escape from a forest fire, just to impress my future grandchildren.
Now back to Presque Isle. My Grandma Kinney’s yard is apparently the hip place for groundhog orgies. She’s trapped over 30 of them. Here’s one that let me take some pictures:

Grandma said he has an odd-shaped head and is probably retarded. She said I had a lot in common with the groundhog.
I decided to play with the zoom on the camera:

Monty Python and the Holy Grail said it best:
“So, brave knights, if you do doubt your courage, or your strength, come nay further, for death awaits you all . . . with nasty big pointy teeth!”

And here are two family pictures. The first one is the Kinney/Playter women:
Front: Mom, Anna, Lily
Back: Jill, Grandma, Me
And now Lily takes the picture of all of us, minus Uncle Gary:

Front: Uncle Paul, Grandma Kinney, Mom and Anna
Back: Jill, Dad, and Me
So there you have it. My vacation, my family, and my groundhog.

Welcome back. Sounds like a wonderful vacation. I think the baby’s cuter, but, for a groundhog, that’s one heckuva groundhog.
Seriously, great pictures, and great choice of pictures to post. Think about adding “photojournalist” to your resume?

Great pictures, thanks for sharing. Looks like you had a wonderful time.
New baby is adorable, she looks a lot like you.
I can see the Ground Hog being the star of one of your comics. Animal Planet might wanna hire you for your photographic endevors.

Great pix!
Unfortunately, those groundhog pictures caused me to have flashbacks to my high school dating days. It wasn’t a great time for me…where’s my therapist???

I know that this is a late entry but, what a great looking family. Lily is a doll. It must have been a great time.
I think that the groundhog had a bat in the cave. I ‘ve heard from some of my jackpine savage friends that they are good eatin, the groundhog that is, not the bat. Also the burning bush thing has been done, too. The one in the Bible, that is.
Now, no pressure but, be funny, now. I am counting on you for a fix. Getting shaky, w i t h d r a w a l. Need…. more…. Playtah…..aaaaghhh! Oh yeah, good seeing you at Walmart. Be blessed, Al
