Lots of Different Stuff in One Post

Posted April 13th, 2007 by Playtah

This morning I looked out the window at a goose that was honking in my snowy back yard. Every time it honked, I could see its breath.

That’s just wrong.

On the upside, I’ll be in North Carolina on Sunday night, enjoying their 60-80 degree weather. The company already made my plane, hotel, and rental car reservation, so I’m read to go. I just have to pack, which I will do Saturday or Sunday.

I think it will be really fun. I’ve been warned that they’re going to try to talk me into moving down to NC. I told them no the first time. It would have to be quite a substantial raise for me to consider it. If their offices were in Chicago, I’d be there in a heartbeat. Of course, if the pay raise WAS substantial, I would consider going down there at least for a year or two (to pay off my loans, etc.) before moving somewhere else. But right now, it’s just a month-long trip to paradise. I’ll probably end up driving to Myrtle Beach or any beach at least once.

Before I go I’m going to go shopping (twist my arm) for some more summery clothes. That should be fun. What isn’t fun, however, is that I got my hair cut on Wednesday without thinking of what happened last time. Now most of my time in NC will probably be spent fending off large crowds of men who want to be part of my voluntary harem. :) (Yeah, right.)

I’m housesitting this weekend for the couple who had the “log dog”. However, he is away this weekend so that maybe his little problem can be helped. It will be just me and the cat. And no eau de (actual) toilet.

I understand that there some nice Duke boys who have time on their hands right now and have an in depth knowledge about the legal system in NC. Somebody said that they were Nifonged. Isn’t that some kind of hazing for a fraternity?

If you are near the capes then that’s cool and you can drive around and see lighthouses and stuff.

    If you

(Sorry, got interupted by a tornado warning.)

Anyway, near the ocean is nice, but Winston-Salem smells just awful.

West of the awful smell is a bunch of giant chairs, but I don’t remember which towns exactly.

    Have a good trip.

Hey Wendy! Hopefully you will get this message before you head down there (or at least when you are at the hotel). The move went pretty well - we ended up not leaving on Wednesday because of the weather and I needed new tires…but we did a straight 14 hour drive Thursday. Sucked.

I don’t know how I feel about the hotel…they make it look really nice in the pictures, but this one was honestly rather dumpy and I felt like they could have given us a better place. Front desk people (the night one anyways) was not very nice to me.

I agree with the other person’s comment they left you that Winston-Salem had a distinct odor to it…and people drive like idiots over there.

I got my apartment that I showed you, it is SO nice…and you will be amazed at how many trees this place has. All budded with leaves and everything. Weather is really good right now it’s been in the 60’s and 70’s most of the week but we’re supposed to get some bad storms tonight and tomorrow I guess.

Luckily for you, I was told there is a taco bell down the road from the hotel so I figured that would make you happy.

The last night at the hotel I had some guy who was about naked come up to me and asked if I was shooting any crack. I replied with “no man, I’m fresh out sorry…” I was more scared because I had about 500 dollars in my wallet o_O because my bank was being a bunch of asses and not letting me get my money.

Anyways, hope you have a safe flight…you’ll love this town I swear, I’m loving it already. Everyone is really friendly down here.

Oh, and I’ll have to take you to a wonderful pizza place right by my apartment - it’s better than vitale’s and that is saying a lot lol

Playtah: Do NOT, I repeat do NOT eat at the Outback Steakhouse at Castle Hayne, Cape Fear or whatever you call it.

The New Bern area is supposed to be kind of funky too.

Some people have a better impression of coastal North Carolina than I do. I’m scratching my head about the giant furniture thing.

About the goose? You are right. “That’s just wrong”. I had the same thought when I saw two ducks waddling through the snow in the front yard a couple of days ago.
