Just Married
My sister Jill and her husband Dustin were married on Saturday. Jill did a fantastic job planning the wedding, and it went very smoothly. As the maid of honor, I had the privilege of offering a toast at the reception. Here is my toast:
Jill, you and I are sisters and
As we grew up of course,
We played and laughed and fought and yelled
Until we both were hoarse.
But we were friends and we both knew
We had each other’s back,
So when you started dating,
I knew it was a fact
That if a boy would make you cry,
I’d have to go and kill him.
So when you first met Dustin,
I thought, “He might be a villain.”
I hoped that he would not be mean
Or rude or even snotty,
‘Cause frankly, I was running out of
Ways to hide the bodies.
But he turned out to be polite
And nice and cute and fun.
In fact, he was so awesome, that
It turned out he’s The One.
I can’t think of a better guy
To be my sister’s boo–
And Dustin, you take care of her
OR I’LL TAKE CARE OF YOU.
I wish you both a life together
Filled with love and fun,
And may you feel God’s presence
In the rain and in the sun.
One more thing I need to say
Before I end this rant:
Please have a lot of children, ’cause
I WANNA BE AN AUNT!
