Shut Your Word Hole!
If you know me, you know that I am generally very nice. I feel that I am generous and giving, and I feel good about helping others. However, I am also a phone representative, which means that my experience with and opinion of humanity gets worse and worse each day. Yesterday I had the pleasure* of speaking with** a lady who would have made a great chihuahua. She had this high, yappy, fast-paced voice, and I know she must have been about a foot tall. I was tired of dealing with people in general, but she was angry, and really set me off. By the end of the call, I wasn’t really trying to be nice. I was trying to be off the phone and away from the voice that would scare a banshee out of a coma.
I bet I could totally beat her in a grudge match. Think you can win against the 6 foot-tall ticked off phone rep, lady? Think again. In fact, you’ll have lots of time to think while you try to re-attach your own butt–which I will have handed to you during the grudge match.
Being a phone representative makes it hard to love people like Jesus loves people.

Wow… and I thought my bathroom rant was harsh. My biggest pet peeve is when it is RIGHT before my time to leave for the day and I get the slow talker. The one who weighs every word before they come out of their mouth. You try to hurry them along, but they are steadfast in their slowness like passing a bill in government.

I can’t imagine how patient you must have to be to do that job. Egads.

I agree with your final statement!!! Boy is it hard!!! Especially when you don’t want to be nice and that is rule number one in customer service.

But then, Jesus never worked on the phone.
I’m sure he’ll cut ya some slack.
