Plates, Pickles, and Good Cinema
Today after church I stopped at the store. I saw a van with this license plate: ICANTC. This is not a license plate that I want to see on the car of a fellow driver. Hopefully they’ll catch an evening service at a local church and get healed.
Last night I went to the theater. I was at the counter buying a pop when the zealous guy who was helping me said (referring to the fare in the container near me), “Would you be interested in a pickle tonight?” I said no, and then asked, “Is that a pick-up line?” The girl working next to him seemed amused. That’s what I do. I spread the joy.
The movie I saw was “V for Vendetta.” See this movie. I really enjoyed it. It was entertaining, thought provoking, and relevant. I wouldn’t mind seeing it again.
What kind of movies do you like? Do you like movies that challenge you and make you think?

LOL That is so funny about the pickle thing. You crack me up!! ROFL
Well, since you asked…I like movies that are entertaining without straining my brain. The reason I go to the movies is specifically to do something in which I don’t have to think too hard. So, that sort of answers your second question.
God challenges me enough with my thought life I don’t need my entertainment to do the same thing. :-

Deb, that is the same reason that I enjoy romantic comedies. Funny, easy to watch, don’t have to think too much.
I also enjoy reading cheesy romance novels for the same reason. A bunch of fluff that I can read that I don’t strain my brain for. Being a single mom, I have too much to worry about anyway.

Sorry — I read there are too many naked women who aren’t my wife in that movie. Can’t be seeing it.

Rachel, maybe Wendy will stop wanting all this “heady” entertainment when she has kids to sap her dry! ROFL
(jk Wendy!)
Jay, you are my favorite man in whole wide world! You are so honoring to me that it makes me ooky inside!!!
May every wife be as blessed to have a husband like you!!!!

Jay–Actually, the only nudity was shots of a concentration-camp type scene. But I think that’s cool that you respect your wife like that!
Deb–I don’t want kids of my own for a LONG time!
Rachel–You may like romantic comedies, but you like Goonies too, so your taste in movies isn’t TOO corrupted. LOL

This is a kind of random comment. I’m Luke’s sister (for relevance’s sake). The second one.
Anyways, I just wanted to say…I loved that movie! It was great because it could pass as a “pure entertainment” movie, but you couldn’t help but think as/after you watched it. I enjoyed it a lot and liked discussing it afterwards. I believe it was made by the same people who made The Matrix, which combined many of the same elements (entertainment and controversy) in that film as well.

Welcome, Erin! I’m glad you liked the movie! There are so many things that I am still thinking about–not just the political, but also the concepts of art, etc. that were commented on in the movie.
